Once you're done with your MATH SBAC for today, do the following: (Wednesday, 5/17/17) Use the information you already gathered to write an outline for your Science Expositive Writing.
Here's a generic skeleton to use as a model: (don't include the red writing in your final draft!) Paragraph 1 (Introduction) The organism I researched was the ___________. I learned about several of the adaptations it has developed over millions of years to help it survive in its natural habitat. Normally, it lives in the _______ biome. But today I will be explaining what I think would happen if it were transported to the ______ biome. Specifically, I will be writing about its adaptations of _______, ____, and _______. Simply put, I think it would (not) survive if placed in the ______ biome. Let me explain why.
Paragraph 2 (Body) First, consider the ________'s adaptation of _______________. This adaptation (allows/helps/permits/etc.) it to _____________ _______________ in the wild. It does this by _______________ _______________ [<---here you explain how the adaptation lets the animal do what it does to survive] Without this adaptation, ____________ [<---add your own explanation about what would happen without that adaptation] But in the _______[<---new] biome, this adaptation [<---explain why the adaptation would or would NOT help it survive.]
Paragraph 3 (Body) Next, consider the ________'s adaptation of _______________.
Paragraph 4 (Body) Lastly, consider the ________'s adaptation of _______________.
Paragraph 5 (Conclusion) In conclusion, I believe that a(n) ________ would (not) survive in the _______________ biome. That's because its adaptations of _______, ____, and _______ best suit it for life in the _________ biome. [<---add any other statements of fact, or opinions based on facts, here. Avoid writing informal statements like, "I hope you liked this," or "that's my essay," etc.]
(Tuesday, 5/16/17) In your science book, • reread 123-127; • read 132-33, answer 1-3; • read 137-41, answer 1-4 on back of paper you used for page 133
(WEDNESDAY) Open a Google "doc" in your Google Drive (like Mr. Stern showed you this morning). Type your name and the date at the top. Skip a few lines, and then make a list of 10 things your mom asks you to do around the house. Put a * next to those that you don't like doing. Save the document as "(your name)'s document", and click on the 3 vertical dots ("More actions"), then "Move" it to the shared drive folder. Then, drag it into the folder called "Wednesday's documents."
• If you missed the last Social Studies Test, ask Mr. Stern if there's enough time to do it now.
• In your science book, read pages 120-122; then, copy and answer the 3 questions.
• If you are William, Harmony, Cadence, Francisco, Coltrane, Ajani, Mia, Ally or Olivia, go back to the home page, click on "Missing Math p. 126? Here it is.", download it, fill it out and drag into the "LATE WORK" folder in the Shared drive.
